The Chip Factory is both a Tech Building and an Eco Building that produces Microchips from Copper and Goods#Sand.

The Microchips produced are necessary for Tech research and Neuroimplants as well as Eco Communicators and Service Bots. One Sand Extractor produces enough sand for 3 Chip Factories, while one Copper Mine produces enough material for two Chip Factories. One Chip Factory is capable of supplying a single Electronics Factory.

The Electronics Recycler is a building which is able to produce microchips under water. However, you need the Deep Ocean expansion if you want to build one.
