Coal Mines are the most efficient Factories available for Coal Production, a necessary Material for Iron, Carbon and Gold Production and for Coal Power Plants. For Players starting with the Eco Faction it is the only source of Coal until Tycoon Technology becomes available.
Instead of using ground space for placement, Coal Mines occupy a mountain node that could also be used for other Mines that extract other Materials such as Iron, Copper, Limestone and Uranium. A single Coal Mine is as effective as 2 Rotary Excavators.
